Sigríður Ósk Kristjánsdóttir

Sigríður Ósk Kristjánsdóttir, mezzo-soprano, completed vocal and piano teacher training at the Reykjavík College of Music and studied further at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London, graduating with Artist Diploma and a master’s degree in Advanced vocal performance. Sigríður Ósk regularly takes lessons with Sigríður Ella Magnúsdóttir. Sigríður performs regularly in operas, oratorios, and lieder concerts both in Iceland and abroad. She has sung opera roles with e.g. Glyndebourne Opera, English National Opera, English Touring Opera, Iford Opera, Classical Opera, and the Icelandic Opera, where she performed roles such as Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Flora Bervoix in La Traviata, and the Third Lady in The Magic Flute. In Iceland she has been a soloist with, the Módettukór, the Cathedral Choir, the Langholtskirkja Choir, the Reykjavík Opera Choir, the Reykjavík Male Choir, and Fóstbræður. She has performed in renowned concert halls such as Royal Albert Hall, Kings Place, St Martin in the Fields, and Cadogan Hall in London, where she sang alongside Dame Emma Kirkby in a concert broadcast on Classic FM. With the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Sigríður Ósk has sung in the concert KlassíkinOkkar performing live on the National Television in 2017 and 2018 and in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Ode to Joy. She performed with Symphonia Angelica at the Reykjavík Arts Festival in 2016 and at the Nordic concert series Concerto Grosso-Viking Baroque, held in major concert halls across the Nordic countries. Sigríður Ósk sang on behalf of Iceland at Strasbourg Cathedral during the opening ceremony of the Strasbourg Christmas Market. She regularly performs in various concert series; in the summer of 2024, she appeared at Berjadagar (Berry Days) and the festive concerts of the Skálholt Festival. Sigríður annually organizes the Christmas concert Classical Christmas. Her singing can be heard on CDs such as “Engel Lund’s Book of Folksongs” (Nimbus Records) and With Spring in Hand, songs by Jónas Ingimundar. Sigríður was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021.
