Katie Buckley began her harp studies at the age of 8 in Atlanta, Georgia. She later continued her training under the tutelage of Ann Adams, former harpist of the San Francisco Symphony and Opera. Katie earned both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, along with a Performer’s Certificate, from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where she studied with renowned harpist Kathleen Bride.
In 2005, Katie was appointed Principal Harpist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her orchestral work, Katie is a founding member of Duo Harpverk, a unique harp and percussion ensemble she co-founded with percussionist Frank Aarnink. Katie’s diverse musical career extends beyond the concert stage. She has recorded soundtracks for major Netflix and Disney productions and collaborated with numerous acclaimed Icelandic artists, including Daniel Bjarnason, Anna Thorvaldsdóttir, Gabriel Ólafs, and Björk. Her contributions to contemporary and classical music continue to make her a sought- after performer in both traditional and innovative settings.
